Chord Study 4 - Major and Minor 6th

Major 6th Chord

A major 6th chord is formed by adding the 6th note of the scale to the major chord. It is written by adding number 6 after the root note like: A6, C6, G6, F6 and etc.

As shown by arrows, F# is the 6th note of the A major scale.

Minor 6th Chord

This chord is formed by adding the 6th note of the scale to the minor chord. Like the major 6th chord, it is written by adding number 6 after the minor chord - Am6, Bm6, Gm6 and etc.
